I was just wondering how updates for the beta program will be handled. Will the program give us notice that an update is available like the desktop client? I'm used to going into the market to check for updates. Thanks!

I'd assume we'd have to uninstall the beta program and then reinstall the official Trillian release from the Market. I'm not sure if there's any way for the Market to connect a program to an unsupported program elsewhere. I'm curious if the program will give notices though, because the Android Market will automatically notify you (at least it does for me) in your notification bar of updates to apps you have installed, so a notification inside Trillian too is kind of redundant, at least after beta is done.

I figured once it was released to the market, that those updates would be there. But since it is not currently in the market, I was wondering on how they were going to be updating Trillian while its in beta. Right now, mine force closes alot and they have said they were working on crashes so in order for us to truly beta test it, they've got to be pushing updates somehow. Hence why I was wondering. Still awaiting that answer.

We will probably have to uninstall and update manually until either they put beta in the market, or the full client is released. That is not unusual, and I have beta tested many-a-program that you had to download and install over the old files.

Don't get me wrong, receiving updates automatically would be awesome, but with the way this works, it's not really a plausible option.

I think it'll be like it is for the Mac version, once you login it checks if your current install is still the latest available and if not it tells you to update and doesn't let you use it until you do so.
