View Full Version : Upon opening from the background, getting "Some internal server error"

Hey, folks.

Every now and then, after I've pushed the Trilly app to the background, when I attempt to reopen, I notice I get an error stating "Some internal server error." and the app brings me back to the login screen.

Anyone else get this?

I get this error all the time, it's really annoying. Every time I leave Trillian on in the background, it gets that error. It's been happening for months, I've just been too lazy to report it 'till now.

Has anyone found a solution? This is driving me crazy.

I'm overseas without a BIS plan and I need to stay connect through WiFi on Trillian at the hotel so I can chat with family and some coworkers.

However, whenever I let Trillian run on the background, when I open it up I find Trillian logged out and an error message "Some internal server error"

I'm only connect through WiFi, and I've tried connecting to different hotspots but all ended up in the same error.

Please fix this! I'm seriously considering migrating to IM+ Pro altogether.

Thank you.

The problem I have with reports such as this is that not a single report here has information needed to create a bug report.

Please include the following.

1. Astra Username: so the devs can ask you more information if needed.
2. Phone Model: for example Bold 9700
3. OS build: for example OS 6.0.0.358
4. Trillian build: for example 1.1.0.29
5. Carrier and country: for example T-Mobile USA
6. Networks used (all pertinent information basically) WiFi/ BIS/ BES/ WAP etc.

Also if you could go to http://bugs.ceruleanstudios.com and report this bug. The username and password to enter the site are both "beta" you must also create your own username and password for reporting and tracking purposes.

Trillian for Blackberry is out of beta now. Users expect for the software they pay for to work without having to help in the development of it buy giving detailed bug reports.
I posted all of those details about this error quite some time back for previous builds and got no response. I have given up on using it on my Blackberry. I did have it work for a length of time without this error once after upgraded to Blackberry OS 6, but it started having this error again right after that.

Trillian for windows does work great for me though.

A lot of people have reported this error by including all the information you mentioned. I'm deeply disappointed with Trillian. I will have to spend 39 dollars with IM Pro+, at least it's more reliable and has a better tech support than Trillian.

Good luck doing business in the future.

Yup, I get that sometimes. It wasn't frequent enough that it ever bothered me until yesterday. I recently submitted a bug to bugzilla because one day when I went to Sign Off I figured I'd try the suspend feature instead. Since then, I haven't been able to normally sign off. When I choose sign off, my contacts disappear and it says welcome to trillian, but the top of the screen still shows my identity, and all my account icons are still lit as if they're still logged in, and the bottom of the screen does not show my account, or the icon to create a new account. So it's like I get stuck in a limbo and all I can do is sign off, choose Suspend again, and then tell it to Force it, because it won't suspend either. It's really bizarre, and the reason I'm saying all of this is because I was just about to add in a message about how today Trillian has been kicking me off constantly when I'm not using it, and when I launch it again it says "Some internal server error". Well, it just occurred to me that at one point I had changed my preferences to set Trillian to set Away and sign me off immediately when I suspend Trillian. I'm starting to think that hitting the back button to send Trillian to the background suspends it, and it gets freaked the freak out when it tries to sign me off, so when I go back into it, it breaks. Makes sense to me anyway. :-D

So here are my specs, if it helps for anything.

1. Astra Username: St0mpy
2. Phone Model: Torch 9800
3. OS build: 6.0.0.337)
4. Trillian build: 1.1.0.29
5. Carrier and country: AT&T USA
6. Networks used: WiFi / BES

I see "Internal server error" quite often too, not sure whats up with that...
- Spent money but not satisfied....

I agree to some of the people above.
There are lot many bugs that as end-users we expect to get fixed.

Bugs
1) Notifications dont work most of the times when messages arrive.
2) Offline messages aren't available always.
3) Switching between wifi/3G and viceversa sometimes never sends messages to the counter party.
4) Status messages are all screwed up upon suspending and upon bringing trillian alive.

Enhancements :
1) Chat history,
2) ability to call a typed phone number directly from chat transcript
3) Battery life can be improved and IM delivery could be more reliable and robust.

Any chance that someone is working to address this issue, or is it just going to be ignored? I'm having the same problem and was hoping someone had a fix.

Also, since I can't yet start my own thread, can someone explain why on my freshly downloaded Trillian for Blackberry installation, I can't connect to my facebook or google talk accounts (Astra seems to be connected just fine)? I'm running v. 1.1.0.29 on a blackberry Curve.

I know this isn't the approved way to ask for help, but since I have four more posts and three days to wait before I can start my own thread, well you'll just have to put up with it.

Oh snap!

Well, Trillian isn't perfect and I'm still patiently waiting for some fixes to come down the pipe, but I've yet to find anything better.

I agree, but trillian has addressed some of the bugs, but the speed is slow. They keep pushing server side fixes without notifying. So unless there is a major revamp/jump to next version, we have to patiently wait. ( anyone knows about the next version release & features etc...?)

Overall I agree that there hasnt been any great app for BB's that supports multiple IMs on one app. Trillian has got some work to do on the battery and memory footprint size.

What we have is trillian only at this point for BBs....

Even RIM hasnt been responding (@#$&%^*) for their bug on Yahoo messenger where the offlines arent sent to the app when you login. It is what it is guys :)

Thankfully, this error seems to have gone away for me. I have stayed connected for a while the last few times I have used it.
Thanks!
