Correct, there is no Skype on the OSX version at this time.

Sigh just switched to a mac and am feeling that loss. Are there any near time plans to add this?

They have said to work on groupchat now. After that it is easier to support more mediums. But they never give a deadline.

I can't remember where, but I heard that Skype is opening up its protocol to allow third party apps to sign in, so if it comes to Mac it might replace Skype, who knows.
But then again, with Microsoft having bought Skype, I think in a year or so it's either going to be unusable or dead.

Especially with protocols like Skype where group messaging is a critical component- I'd wager more people use group-chat on Skype than on AIM- I can see why implementing groupchat support first would be important.

I believe that is not true at all... Skype is more popular than WLM is... so its likely that they will be integrated into one client, with Skype being the majority of the feature set.
