DiscretioN,

i've been told our SOCKS5 support is shaky, which is entirely possible as i haven't had a wide range of servers to test with at this point.

that being said, all you should have to do is go into preferences, AIM/ICQ, proxy, and enable the proxy server. choose SOCKS5. enter your server's name/ip and port (usually port 1080). if you're unsure of the proxy IP, grab it from someone first.

fyi, trillian has some serious issues when wingate *client* is installed on the same machine as it. this is something we're currently looking into. as long as you're only using wingate as a proxy server, you should be fine, assuming the SOCKS5 code in trillian works properly. http://www.ceruleanstudios.com/ubb/smile.gif please let me know if it doesn't!

thanks,

- scott

looks ok to me. can you tell me exactly what you see in the ICQ console window after you attempt connecting?

try changing the port in the "connect" dialog back to 5190, and also try changing SOCKS5 to SOCKS4; some wingate SOCKS5 devices will double as a SOCKS4 proxy as well, and i'm 100% positive that SOCKS4 works within trillian.

either way, let me know what your console says.

thanks,

- scott

IRC should be the same... the proxy settings are mirrored from one chat medium to the next. do the settings in the IRC proxy area look like those in the AIM/ICQ area?

you can also try flipping it to SOCKS4 and seeing if it makes a difference.

what's the error you're receiving in the console?
