I hope this qualifies. But a lot of people don't like having their IM windows just popping up randomly on their screen. One way to solve this is with Trillian's "notify via the systray" option.
In order to do this right click on the trillian icon next to the system clock in your taskbar.
Then navigate to: Options > Preferences...
The preferences window will then come up, Then go to: General > Windows > Initial.
Once there, find and select the radio button that says: "Hide the window and notify me via the systray"
viola no more annoying chat popups. :)
