There are many threads on this topic, I apologize for starting a new one, but the third line is very important and has not been stated before.

Trillian is no displaying Buddy Icons\Display Pictures\Avatars.

Neither in the message window nor the tool tip.

*** Trillian DOES recieve and store them on my computer. ***

Trillian\users\default\buddyicons is populated with files. Giving the files .png extensions makes them viewable images.

I tried the proposed fix of removing these files and the icon hashes from MSN.ini, but that did not resolve the issue.

Thanks,
nW

P.S. I will be checking this post daily so if you need more info ask. Here is a short system profile:

!!! More info!!!

For posterity I reapplied the fix mentioned above, and it does PARTIALLY work.

After removing MSN* from \users\default\buddyicons and everything after [IconHashes] in \users\default\MSN.ini I started Trillian and opened a message window (MSN).

A few seconds later the display picture appeared.

The problem is that if I close the window and open it again it never appears again.

It also never appears in the tooltip.

The "Remember icon from previous conversation" setting does not appear to affect this behaviour. Even if checked, no picture is displayed.

Opening a message window with one buddy and then reopening it (where it won't have the picture) does not stop all buddy images. Each picture may be displayed once.

I've been tinkering for a few hours. It seems that everything is fine the first time (when the image is recieved), but that there is an issue with the saved images or the hashes or something. I hope that helps.
