All,

I have T-Pro 3.1. I am trying to get it to connect to MSN from my work network. I can connect just fine with Trillian to MSN if at home or in a hotel. So I know it does work.

On my work LAN I can connect to MSN with the MSN Messenger app. So I know that the firewall is open to the HTTP port at least. When I "test" in MSN Messenger, the only one that works is HTTP.

In Trillian I have modified my connectio talk on port 80, but it still won't work from within my network. Leaving the configuration at port 80, it works fine again from home and hotel.

It appears that Trillian has an issue when trying to use a port other than the default one, or use a proxy with no server/user/id specified.

Is there a way around this? Is this a known bug? I don't view it as a configuration issue as it works just fine with MSN Messenger inside my network and just fine with Trillian outside the network. I view this as T-Pro not accepting the HTTP port to talk on.

I have gone through all the threads and done the many things that people have recommended (uninstall/reinstall .NET, MSN Messenger, Trillian, etc). I have even deleted the proxy.ini file that was recommended as well as removed all my MSN contacts from the buddies.xml.

HELP!

Any thoughts on this one?

What ports does the MSN component support? MSN supports using port 80, just curious why Trillian doesn't.

AFAIK Trillian only supports connecting on port 1863. As for why it doesn't support port 80 connections, it just doesn't. Apparently it's harder than it sounds to just add that functionality.
