This is annoying the hell out of me. All of a sudden window positions and sizes are not being remembered in jabber sessions. I have the "show at previous location and size" box checked and it seems to work for every other im execept jabber. Any ideas

Update when i set a window position and size and then open it again myself it will correctly remember the position. Its when i get a new message from someone that it ignores the previous settings.

I figure more people will notice it because of google talk. Hopefully they release and updated version soon.

Yes, it's very unusual since you can resize a Jabber window and when you double click the contact in the contact list the window opens in the position you set, but when that same contact sends an IM, the window opens to another position... it's very frustrating.

Sorry for the Necro-Post here, but I still have this issue and this is the only thread I found about it.

Basically, if I open the conversation, the window comes back where I put it. If I recieve an IM, the window defaults to my "primary" monitor and a default size (quite small).

One thing I notice is that I have a Resource name set to be able to use Jabber with my company's server. When I recieve a message, it says that it is changing the connection name to have that resource name appended. It appears that maybe the plugin doesn't recognise the initial username as what I have stored?

1) Will this be fixed in the current version?
2) Is this fixed in Astra?

Do you have the "remember window size and position" box checked in your preferences?

Under Preferences->Message Windows->"When a new message window is created . . ." I have "Show at the previous location and size" checked.

I should note also that all of my other clients (AIMx2, ICQ, MSN, Y!) all correctly retain their positions and size. It is only Jabber that forgets, and only when I am recieving a message (not when I start the conversation).

For example, if I initiate a conversation with my boss, the window appears on my left hand monitor where I last left it, with the same size I last left it. However, if she initiates the conversation, the window pops under my current window on my center monitor, with the default small size (ugh). It does have the conversation history, though, so it knows who she is. It just doesn't rember that the last 50 times I chatted with her I dragged the window over to my left hand screen and resized it taller.

If you go to C:/Program Files/Trillian/plugins/jabber you will see a jabber.dll what version does it say it is?

Right-Click Properties gives me a version of 3.1.0.121 (File date of 3/15/2005)

Your jabber is VERY old. I would search for an updated one, I do not recall the most recent one for 3.1 ... but that would be my first suggestion.

Right now it is up to 3.1.4.316

Here is the most recent one: http://obscurity.ceruleanstudios.com/~rcb/jabber-gmail.zip

How could I find such a beast in the future?

Several times I had gotten irritated and come looking for the latest version of Jabber. Looking at the downloads page here:
http://www.ceruleanstudios.com/downloads/browse.php?n=10&c=7&s1=f&x=39&y=15

It still lists the same defective one (September 2005) that I had been using all along. It strikes me that if there is a functional one, it should be on the downloads menu.

Also, the version you link to includes a file that indicates that this is an Interim build of the plug-in. Was their a prior stable version that is still newer than the Sept 2005 version? Not that I'm complaining, I've already verified that it fixes my problem and I'm happy. I'd just like others to experience the same joy.

The Jabber plugin was written by Rachel (sparks) ... I think it was before she was a fulltime CS employee (if she even is now)

She maintains that plugin solely herself. The interim builds are more stable than the last one on the CS page. That CS plugins list page is almost always out of date on everything, it is not reliable.

The link I gave you is not to a specific version, it is to a spot that she always puts the most current one, so you could just bookmark it and check later. But now that she is working on Jabber for Astra, that will probably be the last version for 3.1.
