Do NOT install this if you're running a version OTHER THAN Trillian Pro 2.x!

Download this updated DLL file:

http://obscurity.ceruleanstudios.com/~gts/tp2/msn.dll

Close Trillian and put this one in the folder.

It goes in the C:\Program Files\Trillian folder (default location, use yours if it's different) and should REPLACE the old msn.dll. Remove the old one or overwrite it with the new one but don't rename the old one to something else and stick the new one in the folder. That will cause Trillian to crash.

so i guess what i'm wonderin is, why does this patch still crash trillan??? it's for 2.x pro right? no dice, still get the error report thing, even before trillian fully loads???

+1 on that. 2.013pro here. replaced the file, still crashes. Had to delete msn.dll for the time being.

if you go into your msn.ini files find the line(s) that say auto connect=1 and change them to read auto connect=0

you don't HAVE to delete the MSN.dll but if your like me this just lets you log onto the other clients so msn doesn't kill the thing.

luckily i did not fully follow the directions in another post and had backed up the msn.dll file. restoring it, and setting auto connect to 0 gets me in

trying to connect to msn does indeed still crash.

I was able to use the application to remove autoconnect for MSN. When the "Trillian has encountered a problem" window is open, the app can still be used normally, it seems (but no successful MSN connection and the error window). I went to Connection Manager and unchecked the box for 'connect at startup' under MSN. Upon restart, all is well as long as I don't try to connect to MSN.

The .dll file in this post did not work. Trillian 2.013 crashes before starting after the .dll is installed. If you want to try it, be sure to save a copy of your msn.dll file in another non-Trillian folder.

I'm not sure how renaming the file to msn.dll.bak or something like that and leaving it in the folder could possibly affect the app as stated. But just for kicks, I DID move the file to another folder when I placed the new .dll. Did not work. Replaced the original .dll and at least I can connect to other services for the time being.

Looking forward to a working patch that can be applied to 2.013. I hope this version has not been abandoned by Cerulean...I don't like the newest version and I'm hoping to run this one as long as I can.
