The footprint (when not experiencing bugs) is very minimal, but 3.1's was basically nothing as well ... so I don't know if I can say it is that much "smaller" ... but it certainly is small.

There are just over 3,000 people in the test already. That number was publicly stated in the blog.

Last known numbers of people having signed up were in the 50,000+ range.

The next step (prior to beta) will be when they open the Alpha to ALL PRO MEMBERS, as stated in the blog.

Some time ago I got emailed with the link and log/pass for the alpha version. However I couldn't use the build at that time as it couldn't even pass my proxy, so I left alpha some weeks while hoping a build in the future would work much better.
Now I'm back, but I can't find anymore the email in my box with the download link ! So I wonder if an admin could send it again to my email adress please ?

There is a link at the bottom of www.trillianastra.com (http://www.trillianastra.com) to sign up to be a tester. Use that link rather than PM'ing, IM'ing, and emailing the request. (y):)

Emailing, sending tickets, private messaging a mod, begging in the comments of the blog, and any other form of requesting to be on the team will do no good. Only one person has the power and the only way he accepts the information is through the link referenced above. :)

The latest info from CS about this indicates this is not part of the Alpha (as some of us (including me) previously thought). The last blog post that mentioned invitations said they would occur during the public beta (which I think is pointless as they can just download it anyways) but either way... they still would be making good on their word technically.

If you don't have a yahoo/gmail account (or other web based e-mail), then print the invite and file it in a safe place.

You have to sign up to get an invite. Pro members don't just get one without signing up.

Oh, and I noticed you said you "paid" for Pro membership. That means you paid for current stable version (3.1.7.0) and a years worth of upgrades. Does not entitle you to guaranteed Alpha or Beta testing however. They are handing out Pro members invites as fast as possible right now, but they are not obligated to.

I like others cringe at the thoughts that I might have deleted it as spam. We have to just be patient and wait the wait. :)

If you would search you would see all the irresponsible people like yourself that enter into the alpha test and then can't be bothered with the hassle of keeping their accounts, passwords and necessary links saved somewhere think they can come on here and just b*tch and whine until they get helped out.

I was sent my invite in July and never got it but I asked in the help section in my pro-account and was sent my data again. I think my problem might have been that it got sent to the address of my pro-account (deleted that) .
But invites do happen, it just takes time sometimes.

I am still waiting. I am also a pro member, so I am assuming that they have forgotten me. I originally signed up when the signs ups started or within 2-3 weeks for sure, so I am not sure if they didnt get my request(s) or if AOL deleted them without me even getting them, as I do check my spam also. The bad part is is that I repaid for updates when the announcement of astra was being created thinking that withen a year they should have it out. Well that was march 2006 it is now september 2007 and still Alpha. :-( and still no luck in getting invited. Really starting to get disapointed as a paying member. (which I know entitles me to updates for a year for all those that were planning on stating that) But as the blog posted that they would get them out over this week and next. (dated: September 4th) Any word better then no word. Bill

Well this pro member has signed up 3 times, and has been well beyond the next week or two as stated, I know I am impaitant, but when you sign up for something withen the 1st couple weeks, and wait for as long as some of us have just to watch others brag about the cool features. No one gives any contract info for wether or not they have tried to email you. Least they could do is have a list of people that have been mailed. Or at least keep to there word.

I'm almost certain that skype will be similar to the version 3 plugin. Skype uses a proprietary protocol and they are not opening it to other developers.

No skype for me since I am on a satellite connection with latency and limited data transfer.

i'd love to see skyllian working at least tho, as i had some events working on 3.1 and got used to it... skype has just some add-ons, but these are mostly extremely ugly and user-unfriendly (and not free), it lets you set only few things such as user alerts too.

so, i'd be totally happy to see the skyllian dot among my connections, no matter that i'd have to keep skype running too...

The current version of SkyLlian 0.7.5b4 works just fine with Trillian 3.1 and the latest 3.5 builds of Skype.

Make sure you have NO SKYLLIAN installed. Then install the installer for 0.7.5b3 (NOTHING OLDER THAN THAT). Then copy the file for 0.7.5b4 over top (it does not have its own installer).

Sending a ticket to support does what, exactly? Support is for technical support (for Trillian Pro 3.x), not to find out what the status of your invitation is. If you signed up, your name is on the list. They're inviting people all the time... They might not have gotten to you yet.

As far as sending PMs, who did you PM? (Trust me when I say that we get so many PMs from people asking for stuff that most go unanswered or we'd be doing nothing but answering PMs.)

But I will agree with one *small* part, and that is they could have at least posted something like "we are still working on inviting pro members in"... only takes a few seconds, and then it qualifies as "having let us know". Plus then it would calm all you guys down for a day or two. :)

I agree DiamondNRG, I had signed up a long time ago, and I think that I even have closed down the e-mail account that I used to sign up with, because I forgot about this. I have recently become a pro member, and have no hope (no hope = no disappointment) of being invited any time soon. Maybe I will get surprised, but if the old saying is right, then good things do come to those who wait. I know it's corny but it is true. Everyone just needs to chill out and be patient, they are obviously closing in on beta tests when even more people will have access. Just be glad that there are people posting what the software is like, so you will have an idea if you will like it or not. just my .02 cents felt the need to rant a little. Sorry.

I was not trying to brag, but to show that some companies actually care about their users and do what they say they will...and at least update them as to whats going on. I was also trying to show that if CS actually got their act together and accepted me that I do want to test and am probably a better tester then joe schmoe who was invited cause hes a friend or didnt care if people to stick to their word, or update people to changes. I am a very understanding person but i dont like being left in the dark.

hard to say... i've been waiting longer (i guess it was something over three months... and i'm a paying PRO customer, so i was lucky that they opened the testing for PRO people). if you read the forums, you find out that many people were waiting even longer. two months aren't really much. :) patience...

You know, there are two components?? first is Webstatus, the plugin for trillian, and second is TrillStatus, that only shows the things, that Webstatus posts into the database... and these two components are developed from two seperate people... they don't have any influence to each other ;)

Second, I know I've just created my account here... I did it just to give you an idea that came to my mind when thinking about buying the pro version or wait for astra to be released.

As you stated, you can't accept more testers as you don't want to overload the servers... have you thought about pre-selling the alpha version?

I don't know how you plan to charge for the astra, but if it will be yearly and the price will be $40/year, probably you could charge $30 yearly and all the people who pay that fee should know they are alpha testers and the product might have several flaws. Also, they should pay the full rate once their accounts are expired.

This way, it could give more people the chance of testing astra, could support buying some more servers and, also, give you some money to continue development.

How does it sound?

yea, ok, how to say this in englisch, you have to accustom (?) yourself to it... In basic it's the same - in theory xD
it's completely different, because all the menus are different (a little bit XP-like, but costumized) and you have to search for some options... some are a little bit hidden
and some things are only strange, sometimes you#re asked three times, if you REALLY want to do sth.^^ OK, I'm only registred(?) as basic-user, but it's annoying sometimes^^ and you shouldn't download something with IE7, because it gives something like a "signature" to exe-files, where no publisher is mentioned and he always asks you, if you want to open it^^

but alltogether it's not bad...

I apprecieate that things take time to come to the masses but how long does dedicated Trillian users have to knitt patience. I myself have been very patient. Infact my Subscription to pro will most probably have a birthday, an still no present to show for it.

Just would be nice to feel part of "The New Trillan Style/Model" than the tired 05 look an feel. Sure I could change my theme as a lot will be saying, thats not my goal. It's the fact that other platforms are edging away an Trillians seeming less popular to lesser diehards.
