View Full Version : Space under Titles Under Contact List Too Short

Has anyone else noticed how small the viewable area under a title on the contact list is so short?
I have to scroll a whole lot more since the Titles that aren't in use or even "minimized" don't allow for the title that I'm in to scroll the full length of the contact list.
Trilly Tunes
My Contact
My Web
...for example.
I think the main Title that you're using should have the full contact list length instead of so much scrolling. Anyone?
(hope I was clear) :)
hmm..... I'm trying to understand what you mean but I dont quite get it. sorry... :S

Agreed! I think that that option should be customisable. No point in having it on for everyone, no point in having it off for everyone. So, it should be customisable.
(Lucky me I don't have that many plugins yet)
To understand this problem, there is a little history behind it:
This is half-implemented feature at the moment, called "Bouncing List" or Quick Jump. It was one of the first features added after 3.1 but had not been worked through ever since. The sections used to scroll away but then the list would be so long that users would lose track of what is on the list and would start scrolling to look for the contents. The collapsed sections are supposed to expand when you single-click on it so one can quickly jump to a section without excessive scrolling, and they would show extra information as well (e.g. "My Contacts" will show a user count). And it will also allow essential controls stay visible, e.g. Music control buttons. In short, it is a whole mechanism to make sure that the essential information is visible no matter how huge your contact list gets.
The list will act more like a spring than a scroller as a result, thus the name 'Bouncing'.
So that was designed and proposed during the 2.x period, the age when we were still using Whistler, and finally got in in an alpha after 3.1. That is to say... Whistler has a very thin title bar, but Cordonata does not. :) So it takes up a lot of space.
It is also implemented now in Astra because this Bouncing List mechanism is going to be very useful for a feature coming up soon...
And that is to say... I'll try to get the collapsed title bar thinner in Cordonata, although I'm not sure how hard it is to make it an option (that's out of my realms).

Kid,
Thank you for the update.
I have one machine that still has 3.1 on it using the WMP skin. The sections are thin and they also collapse and expand very neatly. This way the whole length of the contact list is being used for the "active" section. Then if you collapse the active section, you can see all the other sections on the contact list. This all works pretty smooth.
So I'm looking forward to see what you guys have in store! :D

Sweetness... :-9
I think that's the reason why Minimal interface is available on Cobalt by default installation..?

stev02, it's the best unfinished skin I have!! Actually, I never knew quite what was "unfinished" about it. I have used your WMP skin with 3.1 for a long while. Small and neat footprint. And it's my favorite color!! ;)
Again, good job! Maybe we might see an update for Astra? (y) ;)

Kid, I will try to use the minimal version of Cobolt. I know you're already working on the "bouncing" titles, but I was just getting in a screen shot of what I missed in 3.1. Astra just scrolls everything behind the Title that are listed below the section you're in.
All of Astra's skins so far have been gorgeous! :)
