Are your Connections visibel to everyone? If the option is set to "my contacts" they wont show up on trillian mini.

I signed off an on to make changes, dont know if it worked because of that or if astra refreshed it itselfe, but after sign off/on it appears.

The code from the mini website is if you want to embed the sig in a standard webpage (not a forum page).

To populate it, make sure your Astra display name (Preferences->My Astra Profile) has the information in place. If you're not using any widgets, add some and you should be golden.

Great thanks. I think that I just didn't give the servers enough time to refresh. It seem to be working now. Thanks for the help.

There it is :) Though I am online, so it looks like there are still some bugs somewhere along the way. The "Get It Now!" button also doesn't seem to work (at least on this BBS). I've also filled out my Astra profile and all that (widgets, metacontact info and such) so I'm not sure what's wrong.

EDIT: It seems the Firefox popup blocker was blocking the popups in the sig from links like "Get It Now!". When I allow popups from CS it works fine.

Hmm.... Mine also doesn't seem to work.
It appears to pull it's data from http://ASTRANAME_HERE.trillianastra.com/profile
When I visit that page with the astra username filled in of people where mini works, it shows a neat XML page, but when I try it for the people without a working mini is returns nothing at all.
However, http://ASTRANAME_HERE.trillianastra.com/icon does seem to work, showing the icons of those people.

Looks like something is wrong on the server side?

The first place is looking at your list if widgets and making sure that is set right. Then, after you have picked a widget you know how you go to set what you want, like happy for the moods? Make sure that it is set to everyone there also. There was a conflict in settings for me and it made a difference.

I haven't played with WMP but Winamp is working. It doesn't work with ALL media players at the moment. There are a ton of players so it would be a tough task to get it to 100% compatibility.

For the music widget to work you do have to change some settings. Go to the widget preferences and click the pencil and then choose to have it get it's information from the Music Updater. If you don't do that it will not work. :)

How do you get the different messenger icons working? I just have the Astra icon in my Astra mini.

Concerning the refresh time of the profile I would prefere a 3 minute refresh instead of refreshing every 5 minutes because otherwise the music playing gagdet is a little bit useless showing only every second song.

And I would like to chose German weather as well as American weater in the weather gagdet :p

What forum software are you using?

In vB3 it is a matter of putting the BB Codes in the "Custom BB Code Manager". I will check with the guys and see if it's ok to hand out the actual code that makes it work. I am not sure if they want it hitting super busy forums with our servers being so shiny and new. :)

Powered by phpBB (http://www.phpbb.com/) 2.0.22 - That's the current version of our boards, so it won't be clean. I've built BB Code before, but if I can leverage what you have all done that would make it a million times easier.

Luckily widgets will be able to be created by users so we can add to the list of music players the music widget can update from. I use Musicmatch Jukebox and I think it's fairly common and would love to see compatibility for it.

The one thing I've noticed about this. Right now, if anyone knows your Astra username, said person can see your online status. Anyone. By just going to the Trillian Mini site and entering your Astra username. In other words, there is currently no privacy for this. Will there be an option for turning access to this feature off, if you so desire, in the future?

My TrillianAstra webpage page allowing for "remote" Trillian also just has the Astra connection with all other mediums missing their log-in information, for some reason. Could this be connected somehow?

I change in my profile Coffee-Turtle to CoffeeTurtle so as not to use the hyphen. The hyphen appears as %2D. That worked last night, but it's back this morning. (Probably since Trilian crashed this morning with a C++ error).

I don't know how your boards work (I haven't seen the admin panel) but on vB3 you have to put the BB Codes in the "Custom BB Code Manager". That's where you specify the [trillian_minibar...] and [/trillian_minibar...] part.

The HTML that is inserted is:

I think the service icons should be under the username and status close to the bottom so that the service icons could extend up under the widgets.Also if your username is to long having it auto scroll back and forth would be nice.

well I am currently running build 30 and as of about 1 hr ago I cannot start it up w/o it crashing. But hey thats why they call it a beta. Before that I was having issues with my Astra profile loading. It's all good. With continued input we will get this bad boy up and running in no time.

There is a bugzilla opened on the mini-Astra not working. (bug) 1255. Please go and update the bug with your information and be as detailed as possible, such as Firewall settings, type, browser used flash version, and anything that may be pertinent.

Anyone notice you cant see the small text that good on the platinum theme?
I don't like how the status icons run right behind the widgets.They should drop down to a next row when widgets are turned on, or be moved so that they can run across with out going behind anything.

Also I noticed the service icon colors are different.AIM is orange, Icq is a lighter green, Jabber is a lighter purple.IRC, MySpace, and Rendezvous have no icons yet.

Actually, the VBcode here just auto inserts the HTML embed, the sig bars you see here are the same as the bar that ou insert.

I cannot get my Trillian Mini to update properly, or at all. I've tried the log in to WebAstra thing, but it won't update and use the widgets I've specified nor show my status... Does it just take a long time before it updates or is it really flaky?

I believe they are working on the code quite a bit still, as well as the servers, so there are going to be glitches. Patience is a virtue. :) Also, you can go to bugzilla and enter a bug or update an existing one if necessary. Just follow the instructions in your alpha email.

Your first three widgets are your 'contact widgets,' which are what get shown in the message windows. Those are also what get shown in the minibar.

Having more than three widgets shows up in other places, which aren't yet obvious in present builds. ;)

Hopefully you are reporting to bugzilla for those of you that it is not working with. It could be something in common with your systems, could be something server side that Scott or someone would need you to troubleshoot with. It is working for the majority form what I am seeing, so it would be prudent to report to bugziilla by adding your details to the open bug.

Be sure and add [ to the front end of the code. You can also change blue to another color, like pink, purple. etc.

You need to use the BB Code version. For you it would be:

[ trillian_minibar={insert color here}]{insert astra user name here}[ /trillian_minibar]

Obviously you need to remove those curly brackets, and the space I had to put in the BB code to make it not work when actually put it in your sig.

You're saying after you picked them, you went into each one and personalized them. Made sure the box next to each one is checked?

Make sure you have Flash 9 by going here in Internet Explorer. http://www.macromedia.com/software/flash/about/ Your version will be displayed in the "Version Information" section. IF you need to upgrade do so from within IE.

Restart your computer even if you already have Flash 9. For some reason that seems to help.

I've attached a screenshot of what I'm seeing. Since I noticed it was an IE7 error page, I clicked the properties for it too.

I've logged in and out of Trillian and gotten nowhere. I can't reboot my computer for four hours because I have something encoding, but will do so as soon as that is done.

edit: I got widgets added by installing Astra on my P2 and adding them from there. Once that was done, I could go back to my good desktop computer, re-login to Astra, and configure the widgets then.

Set your IE security settings to default, which is medium security. Go to you Internet options, whether it is through IE or through the control panel, then click the security tab, and click the "default button".

Sorry... I still can't get my widgets to work. I followed all the suggestions in this thread.

My problem is, I think, is that my settings don't seem to stick after Astra is re-launched. For example, I have to set my Time Zone widget every time because it's set to nothing when I start Astra. Same thing with my Weather and my "feelings."

After I do everything, the widget never do show up. After I re-start Trillian, I have to set everything back up again.

I think I have a bigger issue, eh?

1) Reset all folder attributes to remove Read-Only flag. (I'll check back here later if it works).

I don't know how your boards work (I haven't seen the admin panel) but on vB3 you have to put the BB Codes in the "Custom BB Code Manager". That's where you specify the [trillian_minibar...] and [/trillian_minibar...] part.

I've been playing with Astra for a day now and I have some "issues" with the mini.

First, it's not showing my myspace IM and Google IM accounts.

Second, I changed my mood yesterday and it hasn't updated yet.

Third, after my mood wouldn't update for a few hours yesterday, I removed that widget and installed the clock widget instead and it won't display.. it just continues to show my outdated mood instead.

Yes, I have everything set to a privacy level of "everyone." Yes, I've reloaded Astra. Yes, I've refreshed my Astra network connection. Am I the only one this is happening to right now?

I'm using WMP11 on WinXP MCE.

I actually just removed all my widgets, restarted Astra.. found Mood in there again, removed it.. added the clock, weather and music widgets and set everything back up and made sure everything was set to "everyone", disconnected from Astra and reconnected.. restarted my browser.. and it's still showing me my "mood" lol I just have this kind of luck sometimes, I guess lol

Ok, I am using the last WMP to upgrade. Make sure in options --> plug-ins --> background, check the box next to trillian.

Make sure in Astra, that you have the music widget set up to music updater(each choice)

But, I've done a little more digging. The <lastupdate> field in my profile seems to indicate that it's trying to update. However, it's not getting updated information.

If it comes down to a Bug Report I'd like it to be a good one.

I am not an Alpha tester unfortunately, but was curious about the Trillian Mini feature of the program, and after reading through the forums I didn't see an answer to the question, so I figured I would ask.

1) Will the Trillian Mini Sig be able to be added to like a MySpace page when it's finished? I think MySpace requires everything to be written in Flash right (Which if I am not mistaken is one of the requirements to run Astra).

2) Will someone viewing my Sig be able to click on it and send me a message right from there? I think that would be a really cool feature (Maybe with an option to disable if the user so desired). I guess it wouldn't really matter what protocol the message was sent in, so it could just make use of the Astra protocol. Maybe have the option code specific, so within the Flash Sig code a string could exist something like "IMAllowed=yes" or "IMAllowed=No", so that depending on where the user was placing the Sig they could change it per location. For example on a major forum, versus a private MySpace page or something. I can see this being particularly useful on MySpace, but that's me. :)

I hope noone minds my asking, but I was curious and am really excited about Astra. I can't wait to get a copy on my PC. :D

That would be REALLY cool. That's kind of what I was asking, only I kind of complicated it a bit... I think that would be a really nice feature. I think that it should be able to be disabled depending on where you were posting the Sig though (Like how I suggested in my post above). It would be a GREAT feature though.

@lostmybottlecap: Thank you for your answer, I only saw mention of Trillian Mini for Forums, so I didn't know if there was going to be a Flash version for sites like MySpace. That is too cool. I can't wait to show it off to my friends (When I am able to get Astra that is...). :)

Still having trouble keeping my weather and music stuff loaded in Trillian. With each restart only the emotion stays and therefore is the only thing that shows on my Mini (with the connections). :(

I was just wondering if there were plans to allow people to click on a users Trillian Mini and send them a message / chat with them from there. I think this would be particularly great for MySpace and such. I do think that within the code that we would post, that there be a setting for "Allow IM = yes" or "Allow IM = No", so that if you do not want to receive IM's you can disable that. Also, I think that it would make sense for there to be a setting such as "Location = MySpace", etc., so that when you get a message Astra could tell you where it was coming from.

What does everyone think of this? Is this feature planned? I think this would be great.

Ok, so for a while I've been trying to get my trillian mini bar to show up correctly. I could get it to display the bar along with my icon, but my Astra name and all my contact status info wouldn't show up. It turns out, once you set all your contacts up (see previous posts), you have to LOGOFF. This means LOGOFF, not "exit", not restart computer. LOGOFF. CS really needs to write a quick tutorial for setting this up rather than letting all the alpha testers stumble through it. That way they won't have to waste their time reviewing bugzilla reports about it because no one knows quite how to set it up. My 2 cents, anyway.

There seems to be an element of patience and a desire for everyone to see if you're on line to have the various im buttons show. Personally, I didn't want it. Basically everything is in this thread as we all figured it out.

For the most part, patience is the important part.

Thanks...It only holds 3, so when you have 4 picked, it tried to show them all and doesn't align properly. Pick 3 and drop the fourth.

A couple of the things I have found for checking out my sig: after having saved the sig, I can go back to user CP and click signature to see the sig I just set up. I can then easily make the changes I need to make there.
The other place is to click Quick Links on the forum tool bar at the top. The drop down has an option to see my profile. That is another way to check my signature, without having to do it in posts.
Now, that was not just for you Tom, but for others who might have an interest

I think that currently the minis are trying to update from the old server and that's why they are not updated ;)

You'll find a lot of suggestions here on what you can try and what may be the problem from time to time.

One for me has even been logging on to the Astra website (http://www.trillianastra.com/)(which somehow either forced an update or was pure coincidence). /edit BTW: Logging into the site is currently "unavailable due to maintenance" :( (sorry)

Suffice it to say, my own mini-toolbar is never exactly in sync. I'm sure their working on it. :)

I think web profile is the setting for the mini-tillian. I have been playing and the widgets changed. PS> Pick no more than 3 or it looks overloaded and doesn't look right.

I like the widgets. I think they are going to really be useful tools for people. Business people, seeing what time it is for others around the world/countries, weather, for traveling, the map thing. I just think it's going to really help to make Astra a desired product.

Yes, those are really good ideas and application of the widgets. I use a small calendar in the upper right hand corner of my desktop. It is completely invisible until I hover my mouse in that location. It stays in sync with my MS Outlook and Palm, and provides reminders. I would love it if the widgets can also work along the same lines. (I'm not sure about having persistent things on my desktop).

Also, as Vista gets adopted more, it has it's own group of widgets to choose from. If Trillian widgets are easier to develop, that would give it the edge.

So I too can't wait to see what else is going to happen.

What dropdown selection should be used when adding the Widgets in the Astra Profile area? I see "Message Window", "Contact List", "Desktop", and "Web Profile". I know the web profile is not yet available, but since it had the word "Web" I figured it would not hurt adding them there, but even after waiting for my the Trillian Mini to update I still dont see the Widgets I added: Weather, Time, and Now Playing.

I did put Everyone for each, and in each settings page I added the info and made sure each field had Everyone as well.

I know they're working on things tonite, so maybe that is disabled at the moment for them to work other parts of the server, or, it is just on over load at the moment and it will take more time to show up here.

Well that is what I did, and each Widget and every field for the widgets settings are all put to Everyone. but I do not see any of them on my Trillian Mini, and it has been hours...

The widgets for here seem to be slow when lots of new people being added.

I don't know exactly what the plans are for them yet. I know people are wanting what you requested in your post. We will see. It's still in Alpha.
They have more things they are putting together. Some are surprises for us.

A lot of that is planned for the Astra profile, so its possible the Mini might point to the Astra profile if it doesn't get all those features natively to itself.

Anyone else notice that the rest of the connections (other than the Astra connection) don't show up above their name on the Trillian Mini bar? It only shows the icon for Astra, though I'm connected to three other networks as well.

seems to be things are still updating with some people, though I can't have one yet...there might be some backlog of the server not updating some users.

Yeah I see that! Nobody's seems to be working right now.

The weird thing for me was that my widgets were showing up just fine, but not the other connections.

You have to go to Trillian Preferences, My Astra Profile, click the Change button, My Astra contact option on the left. Start adding subcontacts and make sure its set to everyone for each one.

I have them set in the 'Show my widgets located in my: Message Window' option. I don't have them set up anywhere else and chose that option as it was the default.

I believe it is in the area where you set up your accounts, ASTRA, AIM, ICQ, etc. It is in settings, show me on the web (or something like that) When they are showing again, try that and see what happens.
