Hello,
my profile in V3.1 is located in e:\trillian\profile. Today I install Trillian Astra over the old version, but it seams, that all my stored data from my old profile are ignored.
- I miss my meta-contacts
- my old Logfiles
I must reenter all my contact-infos. It seams, that there are stored in %appdata%\trillian, now. The old data in e:\trillian\profile are not touched since I made the update to the new version.
It threre any way to import my old buddylist, meta-contact, logfiles etc?
Many thanks
Mike

yes, copy your old buddies.xml file overtop of the new one. This will fix your list ... then go to astra.ini and set it to a "1" instead of a "0" ... this will make it so this list is temporarly (only one startup) set to over-ride the copy on the astra server.
For your log files copy your old logs folder into the new one.
You can also copy events.xml the same way if you want your old away messages.

Thank your for your reply! I will try it tomorrow. I have one more question.
Is there any possibility to move my profile from %appdata% to any other place? I don't found a way in the settings.
Thank you!

There is but its not a good idea. You have to manually edit one of the files that points to its location which I don't remember the name of... but I am sure searching the forums would bring it up.
If you do decide to do it, don't put it anywhere that requires elevated rights, like the program files folder!

Thank you for you answer and for your warning. I do this since trillian 3 and it works. One "How to" I found here (http://forums.ceruleanstudios.com/showthread.php?t=94706).
Pitty, that the installation of trillian astra do not read the old settings and convert it to the right place. In my eyes this is a bug of the installer.
Many thanks

it normally does work, obviously I don't know exactly why yours did not work... perhaps you didn't have 3.1 installed in the default location either?

Today I upgrade 2 more computer. The same problem. :-(
All the computer are installed with standard Trillian 3.1. In the past, we add a new user with the advanced options and change the profile-path to d:\trillian\profiles via GUI. That's it.
Now I'm sure, it is a problem in the Astra Installer. May he can only convert/detect profiles there are located in the same partition as trillian was installed.

Yup, thats important information to know, cuz perhaps it doesn't look in other partitions/drives...
What is the reason you need to have the profile path changed? (just curious)

Since many years I divide on all systems the operation system from the user data, as far it is possible. This is the normal way for me. I can't understood people, they don't do this ;-)
The astra installer don't have to look in other partitions. The only thing what the have to do is to take a look in the %programfiles%\trillian\user\global\profiles.ini. There are all necessary information concerning the profiles (path, name, ..) of v3.1

Im sure it normally does that though... perhaps one of the devs will have to do some more testing with you to figure out why it didn't work out.
Regarding separating stuff, what is the point? That other partition is just as likely to be damaged or corrupted... what I do is setup a backup to happen every night where it takes my entire user folder and COPIES it to the backup hard drive. That way if either one gets messed up I still have everything.
When you installed trillian astra, did you install it directly on top of the previous installation?
Did you create the astra account within that same copy of Trillian?
We currently only look at the directory we are installed and its global/profiles.ini to see if anything can be migrated from. If you did install it in the same directory and you created the astra account from within there, it should have provided you with a migration step in the wizard. Do you remember if this happened?
Thanks for the help
