Tab button doesnt work in chat?

I am not sure, but is the tab button on the keyboard supposed to make like 5 spaces on a chat? because it does not currently work at the moment. Regardless if I tried hitting it or someone else sent it to me in a chat and used tab button.

Try CTRL+TAB and CTRL+SHIFT+TAB.
You can customize the shortcuts if you want.

Currently the tab button just functions as auto-complete for a chat window. If you type a letter and then hit tab, it will autocomplete into the name that may be in the group chat with you. It does not add spaces or a tab character. You can throw that in as a feature request if you wish. I was surprised to see that it was not in there, but I have also apparently never tried to use it :)

:P Apparently none of us have tried to use it before, and yeah, I think I will add that as a request sometime later today when I find some spare time. Thank you both for the fast reply and van_ra you know I meant when typing to someone, not changing between who I am talking to right? My friend was the one who pointed out to me that tab did not work when he sent me something that he tabbed and and copied and pasted it back to him. This is not really a required feature but tab button should do what it is supposed to do, not to mention my friend says he uses it a lot.
