auto reply error?

in the options section it says "when in away mode auto reply" so why is it when you add a display message (not being away mode) it still auto replies?

I get this error on Astra. My status is online, I've set a status message, someone wrote me and in my message window it shows that the contact gets the auto reply message and he received it. I'm also connected with my iPhone and the status there is away.
