Oh, look, build 160...
http://blog.ceruleanstudios.com/?p=1658
This was a fairly major push in order to get framework needed for other features in place. The hope is that now we can break things into much smaller and more frequent builds from here out.
(...can I sleep now?)

Very cool... I like it. Two questions though Sparks (if you have time).
1. Are there not Metacontacts in Trillian for Mac? I see three seperate entries for the same person (different accounts). Do they need to be online in order to merge them?
2. I added the wrong Facebook account by mistake, and then removed it. All of the contacts are still in offline contacts though...
Other than that, very cool!!!

The cross-platform core (the bit that OSX and Octopus share) doesn't yet support creating metacontacts properly. In the meantime, metacontacts created elsewhere get honored in OSX.
It's a high priority to fix (especially since I use the OSX build as my primary client, and that drives /me/ nuts), but we needed to get this build out with the social and history chunks and the updated core and the new Astra asset management and... yeah.

Cool, I'll jump over to my Windows 7 partition and set everything up there first. Thanks Sparks!

Couple of questions Sparks:
1. Facebook -- what's the scoop on Facebook chat at this point? I noticed that unlike the Windows client there's no option to 'connect' with my Facebook account but not login to chat. So right now, I have Facebook Chat contacts (via the Facebook plugin) and Facebook contacts via the Jabber/XMPP plugin. Should I just not connect via the Jabber/XMPP account? If so, is Facebook Chat going to be supported strictly through the Facebook plugin moving forward? As I recall, Facebook Chat via the Facebook plugin was deprecated (at least on Windows) and the marching orders were to move to the Jabber/XMPP plugin. Thoughts?
2. Twitter -- nice to see the support there, but I noticed that my settings to 'pin to the contact list' for items (ie: Friends tweets, Newsbots, etc.) aren't honored. Should this functionality be working in this release, or are they just placeholders? Thoughts?
Thanks again.

That's true on Windows as well, so you may want to put it into Bugzilla as a feature request; if it's added to the Facebook medium on one platform, it'll pull through to all that use the new one automatically. (Or you can harass Facebook until they add support for invisibility to their XMPP implementation, which would be a shortcut to more or less the same thing!)

No, that's a placeholder; Twitter isn't really aware it has no way to pass that stuff to me, unfortunately, so still adds some items to menus that it shouldn't. I am aiming to get news stuff and pinning functionality into contactlist sometime in the next few builds, but there's some stuff we need to sort out.

FB: Just checked a Windows machine I have Trillian running on, and there's two sets of options there...the first is to 'connect' via Facebook and underneath that is the following text: 'If you wish to use Facebook Chat, please enter in your email and password'. If I don't fill out that information, what I end up with is a connection to Facebook for status updates and the like, but no Facebook Chat. I use an XMPP connect for FB Chat instead, so I'm not 'dual-connected' to FB Chat as it were (once through the FB plugin and once through XMPP) on Windows. Long way of asking...can I do the same thing on OS X? If not at the moment, can we throw it on to the request queue?
Astra: I notice that my Astra connection always appears to be disconnected, even when I explicitly try to connect -- that's been the case for quite some time. What's the scoop behind that, is it just a cosmetic issue, or am I really not connected to Astra?
Thanks Sparks.

Wow, looking good.
History isn't working for me, though. Looks like the log files are still getting created but they don't show up in the history viewer or in the chat window. Maybe something borked on my system because of running the alpha?

You must be looking at version 4.X ... Version 5.0 on Windows is missing the "no FB chat" option just like the OSX release is right now. It is in bugzilla already though. And there is no reason to use the Jabber connection for FB anymore, that was only suggested as a work around until they got the Facebook connection part of the plugin redone properly to work with FB's new chat setup.

Liking the new build alot Great Work!
Two things,
-Is there a way to auto-sign-in to a profile on Trillian start-up like on Windows.
-My Astra connection is always grayed out even though I can see Astra Contacts as online. And in preferences it is showing offline. Known Bug?
Otherwise love it!!! We'll see how the XMPP works and If i feel comfortable moving off iChat for that yet (I hope so).

you surprised us, he-he!
some issues:
1. for XMPP accounts: the avatar of one of the contacts is set as generic avatar for all buddies in the XMPP list
2. about the menubar status I've commented on the blog
3. font size for the incoming messages from ichat/microsoft messenger users is still disproportionate regarding the font size used in Default.css

I feel kinda stupid asking this, but how do you open the history viewer? I'd expect it in "Windows", but it's not there.
The rest looks good though, I'm looking forward to mail integration, I already removed Facebook Notifier from my startup items, my Gmail notifier is next.

Go to any given contact in the contact list, or any conversation in the chat window, and right-click (or control-click if you're using a trackpad). There's a 'View History' option in the menu that comes up, which will pull up the history window for that user.

Mail's definitely on the list, but it needs the contactlist news integration ('pin to list' and similar functions) in order to work. Now there's a lot more of the structure, functionally, that's necessary in place, however.

Hmm, lol ... not always true, people have complained about wanting things like auto-join for XMPP conferences and AIM direct connect and a coffee maker plugin for years, and yet none of those have been added.

Well I mean, this isn't the first time a thread has been made where people just air all their discontent and then a new build is released shortly after. Not saying this should become a trend, but talk about timing.

Ah, very true. I like it better when the threads are started after the build is released, like they didn't check before writing.

Yeah, this was just timing. We'd actually hoped to release 160 at /last/ week, but we ended up having to push a few days later to get a last few things in place.

Stupid question: it will be posted when it is ready
This means, when some bugs are fixed and/or something new is created.
Most times this costs some weeks...

Hi Sparks,
With the framework push, and the possibility of more frequent builds, etc... Is it a possibility that OTR support will be included in the near future? I've read that you don't wish to talk about release schedules anymore, I'm just curious if it's something that will happen or not?
The Windows community has been having to rely on a community plugin that's....buggy, to say the least. But unfortunately Mac users don't even have that.
The lack of OTR support is what's keeping me from using Trillian for Mac (required for work.)
Thanks

Here is one thought. I installed my machine with a case-sensative filesystem. I wonder if that could be part of the problem.
