Medium MSN® Related SUPPORT: MSN Err 0:0
NOTE: This is for Error Code 0:0, not Error Code 0! This fix won't help if you're experiencing Error Code 0.

MSN Err 0:0 usually means that there is something wrong with your contact list. If you've tried disconnecting and reconnecting but still can't connect, then try this:

Remove the MSN service from Trillian and just add it again with the same ID all your settings will be preserved and Trillian connects just fine.

If it's still not working, try this:
  1. Shut down Trillian.
  2. Edit buddies.xml with Notepad.
  3. Delete all MSN contacts (they will be retrieved from the server on the next successful connection).
  4. Restart to Trillian.
  5. Reconnect to MSN.

What most likely happened is that one (or some) of the MSN servers had an abrupt interruption (crash, outage, someone kicked the plug out, whatever) and it caused Trillian's a problem with buddies.xml. Since MSN doesn't have buddies.xml, people with MSN wouldn't have any problems. Trillian would, though. So....It wouldn't let you connect back up again.

Of course, that's just an educated theory. Not cold, hard facts.

NOTE: This is for Error Code 0:0, not Error Code 0! This fix won't help if you're experiencing Error Code 0.

If none of these solutions work, post in this thread:

puck71 was kind enough to condense some of the information in the above link to the following things to try:

1. Make sure your MSN login and password are entered correctly into your Trillian settings.
2. Make sure your login address has been verified as a Passport (for those of you using a non @msn.com or @hotmail.com address)
3. For hotmail addresses, login to hotmail.com and make sure your email account has not been de-activated due to inactivity. If so, re-activate it and try Trillian again.
4. Try right-clicking on the MSN icon under your contact list and choosing "Clear Mail Notification" - then try to connect again.
