Facebook chat (4.0 b118)
Howdy. Looking to get back to using trillian after being away for about 7 years, and what a transformation!
My only issue is the facebook chat login. I've read multiple threads that just relate to facebook in general, so i'm not sure if they are referring to the news feed (which works fine for me) or the chat. I've never received a "disconnect" message, as I've never been able to CONNECT to the chat.
I went through options and input all the proper information, yet even when connected to the wall none of my buddies pop up. When I right click on the facebook plugin and go to chat, I am unable to move the check mark from "offline" to "online" . Is there a facebook app or authorization I have to use in order to enable this feature to work?
Even if it is outright disabled I'd rather know now so my chat program search can continue!
Thanks

Just as soon as I posted this, after clicking "online" multiple times it finally worked. Not sure what the issue was, but I guess it is resolved :-)

Yes, it can be flaky at times, which is Facebook's fault most of the time. And Trillian 4.1 will try even harder to maintain a connection.

I can attest that 4.1 DOES maintain a connection much better than 4.0, unless Facebook is acting up. Even then 4.1 tries much harder at keeping that connection. 4.1 is incredible stable!

Whenever I enter the login details for Facebook chat, Trillian (4.0) doesn't save them.

Facebook chat
I was having a lot of trouble with Facebook chat so I deleted that connection completely yesterday. Today, I decided to try again. I created a new connection. This time I did not change any of the default settings and everything seems to be working fine. Previously I had selected to use my default browser instead of the mini browser and I had turned off several of the notifications. I wonder if changing any of those items are what was causing it to have problems before?

Deleting an remaking the connection has fixed it.
I hadn't changed the setting you mentioned the first time though. Only difference between it working and not working was 1st time I set up the connection, then came back to it and added the details for chat - 2nd time I added all the info in one go before connecting for the first time.

Facebook Chat
Hi!
First, let me say, that I appreciate your good work with Astra! For me this is the best chat client ever ...
But there's a problem with Facebook Chat (please note the following status window msg):
*** Facebook Chat: Couldn't log in! If you made sure that your login credentials are correct, Facebook may have changed something that causes Chat functionality to stop working for now.
I entered my credentials under Trillian Preferences, My Connection, Miscellaneous and I triple checked them ...
Please give me a short info on what to do respectively if there will be a solution.
THX Markus

Latest Facebook Chat Issue
Greetings...
...and it seems that the Facebook Chat issues just keep coming.
Don't get me wrong - I absolutely love Trillian/Astra, otherwise I wouldn't be here. This Facebook Chat issue is getting rather... distracting, though.
[08:35] *** Logging into Facebook Chat...
[08:35] *** You have successfully connected to Facebook Chat.
[08:35] *** Facebook Chat Error: 1357001 (You must be logged in to do that.)
[08:36] *** Debug Message: [Chat] [HTTP Error 10060 0]
[08:36] *** Debug Message: [Chat] [HTTP Error 10054 0]
[08:36] *** Facebook Chat Error: 1357001 (You must be logged in to do that.)
[08:36] *** An error occured while fetching photo album/tag information. Please notify the developers of this problem.
[08:36] *** Facebook Chat Error: 1357001 (You must be logged in to do that.)
[08:36] *** Facebook Chat has encountered an error and cannot continue.
[08:36] *** Disconnected from Facebook Chat.
This has been going on all morning no matter how many times I try and re-connect.
There may be no rest for the weary, but is there any help for the users? Is this a facebook issue, or do I have to bugzilla this one?
Until that time...

mmairits, please have a look here: http://forums.ceruleanstudios.com/sh...119#post792119
Ouronos: Looks like Facebook's fault (again): 10060 and 10054 are network errors (connection timed out / reset) and first "successfully connected", then "You must be logged in to do that" is most likely a server-side failure as well. Please remember that FB Chat is often unstable on the website as well, and that using it via 3rd party chat applications is officially discouraged by FB. Trillian (especially 4.1) tries its best to maintain a connection, but since there's no officially supported interface, every time FB screws up or even just changes stuff around, Trillian may or may not break.
Also: http://forums.ceruleanstudios.com/sh...0&postcount=34
In conclusion: You'll have to wait out this kind of errors for now.

Greetings...
Thanks, KingIR, for the response. I will keep waiting for this error to (hopefully) resolve. It is unfortunate to note that Facebook chat (well, actually, Facebook and MySpace chat) were the deciding factors leading to me renewing my license.
Hopefully Facebook and Trillian will learn to play nice with each other.
Until that time...

Greetings...
Two days now, and FB Chat and Trillian will not connect to each other. I'm beginning to suspect that there might be an issue that may not be temporary or simple.
Any suggestions, comments, advice or updates?
Until that time...

Greetings...
I have gone four days now without being able to connect to Facebook chat; this seems to be something more than just a simple issue that can be 'waited out'.
Is there any word on how long we have to 'wait this out' before we can use Trillian for Facebook chat again? Is it time to bugzilla this? (Is this even something that *can/should* be bugzillad?)
Is 4.1 experiencing the same issue?
Until that time...

We're aware of the build-118-randomly-has-problems-logging-into-Chat issue, but to my knowledge, it's not looking like there'll be a 119 soon.
This is what I wrote about it earlier: http://forums.ceruleanstudios.com/sh...5&postcount=74 (last paragraph)

Na, I think it is trillian itself. Every other client that supports Facebook Chat never drops. Digsby, windows live messenger, meebo, pigin, the websites - none of them drop, where as trillian drops every couple of minutes. Don't believe me? try one of the other ones and see for yourself

Facebook has been testing and rolling out some new stuff from what I can see. v4.1 has better handling of issues with Facebook, but even with the improvements there have been a few disconnects or failures to connect, due to issues on Facebook's side. When these issues occur I have tested the connection against Pidgin with the Facebook plugin, Meebo, and my Cellphone's Facebook client, and all have had issues. The fact that Facebook is making changes will cause random login errors.

That is my log window from v4.1. As you can see, Facebook is closing the connection, not Astra. Astra is doing it's part of the job, reaching out to connect to Facebook, but Facebook either says "No network for you!" or "Try later Astra babe, we are trying something new".
So be patient, and when Facebook is done messing around, everything will be Hunky-Dorey.

This, and the fact that the Group chat is a little whacked are the two main reason I won't go to trillian full time ..
I had digsby up for a month and it hasn't dropped one time. Tried trillian, and it dropped every five minutes ...
