Using Pro for years now, even gifted it to some ppl - and the lack of an ipad app is just crazy. I would even buy one, instead I'm going to buy the IM+ app - it has native mode on the ipad and I'm going to use this instead of Trillian. And when i bought it i won't buy an ipad version of Trillian - right now i would pay...
So CS is working on getting customers away to other apps...

Honestly, "when it's done" is probably a better option than giving a date:
They give a date of "we'll have something released on such-and-such date."
The date gets missed.
People start complaining the day after.
OR
The date is reached.
People get happy when they download the product.
People get mad when the product isn't up to expectations because the company had to hurriedly slap something together in order to meet their date.
"When it's done" is a polite way of saying "We're working on it, we don't want to give a date, as that will hold us to some arbitrary time frame that we may or may not meet. If we do meet that date, we run the risk of releasing a sub-par product."
A lot of companies have had to re-schedule product launches when they realize a date will be missed.
