What IS The Configurator? The configurator is a utility to allow skinners to make their skins configurable with little or no programming knowlege. It also allows a common place for users to be able to change settings for all their skins without having to search for programs, etc.
The Configurator's Webpage ( installer mirror)

More to come later after my next update.
Hehe.. the powers of being a moderator... grabbed this post from another thread so I could have the first post in the thread and make this the 'official' thread.

well, I know the server was up last night because I fixed the help page after someone pointed out the encoding got screwed up on it. So it was probably a DNS glitch somewhere in the net between you and there.
Also, it seems that the server might be blocked on certain subnets because a couple of people have had to use a proxy to get to Civillians (which is on the same server)

But I know that Civillians was down yesterday... because my site was down too... which is on the same server. When the server is down, I'll hear it...
It's being down more and more frequent though ...

I must be doing something stupid cause I can't get it to install. I can get as far as the directory path but the "next" button is greyed out and not clickable.

you have to select a directory under where Trilian is, for instance Trillian\skins\theconfigurator.
It was done this way to eliminate confusion about which version of Trillian was being modified, etc when you have multiple copies of Trillian installed. (People were confused with the early attempts I made at trying to support multiple versions in one interface, so I decided to just make it 1 Trillian per TC install.)

Now that you mentioned it, I remember you doing that . It was trying to installed in another place. Thanks, I didn't know I had lost it until I went to use it and couldn't find it.

Was it defaulting to the wrong place? Because it tries to read the Trillian folder from the registry, then it tries %programfiles%\trillian. This could fail if you didn't install Trillian with uninstall info or if that key was wiped from your registry at some point (it happens). But if neither of those happened and it defaulted somewhere else, then it might be a bug in the installer and I should try to hunt it down.

It was trying to install to c:\startupmenu\programs\trillian\skins. I wasn't paying attention at first until you mentioned selecting the directory, then I noticed what it was trying to do . Have to admit, never seen anything try to install on XP startup menu, well at least not on mine. I usually pay more attention, but since I've been using it since it came out, just didn't think to check where it was trying to install. Maybe somethings wrong on my end.

That's just bizarre.
BTW: what version of the installer do you have? if it's .24 can you send it to me? I accidentally deleted my backups tonight when I was testing some stuff to see what could be causing that.

Sure can the old install was still listed in the start menu but the folder was empty. Could this be why it tried to install there? I'm thinking the registry was still showing it, even though the file was empty.
I resent it again. Sorry Hope it work this time.

vs 0.26.0 / 0.26.1
0.26.0 (2005.10.09)- On modern operating systems, under Trillian 2+, Trillian Advanced Settings now launches the 'Pack Rat instead of the internal dialog.
-- PackRat has more features than the old TAS dialog, including allowing TC to configure emotes / sounds / interfaces.
-- Also, this allows me to just develop one app instead of two to do the same job
-- This also allows skins to suggest skinpack setups by including a PackRat.ini in their folder.
-- (Trillian versions before 2.0 and Win98 / ME still use the internal TAS dialog.)
- Internal Trillian Advanced Settings dialog writes trillian.dtd more like Trillian itself.
- Internal Trillian Advanced Settings dialog adds support for the STIXE Iconpack Extension Patch.
- Optimized a few more internal routines / misc bug fixes.
0.26.1 (2005.10.11)- Updating the 'Pack Rat to version 3.1.05

The server's been up and down for a couple of weeks now. I'm trying to find out what the problem is, but I haven't been able to get ahold of the host. If it happens to go down again, Christie is hosting a mirror on her site.

Tometheus.com should be up and running now, thanks to JProst for hosting me now.
As for development, there may not be a new version available by the time Astra goes public I'm going to be moving out next week and staying at a friend's place for a month, then moving somewhere else and hopefully starting work on my PhD... so life's busy for me. Hopefully I will be able to update PackRat so that functionality isn't completely broken, but certain features aren't settled yet, so I don't know if I'll be able to work on that or not.

As always, do what is best for you first and then take care of us. If you aren't at your best then you can't help us as well as you would like and we all suffer.
Good luck with your moves and how exciting for you!!!!

1) Are you using Trillian Astra?
2) Are you using Windows Vista?
