Skype not showing up in Trillian 5?
Hi,
I have the unpaid version of T5. I enabled Skype in it, but the conversations for Skype do not actually take place within Trillian and all of my skype users are not in Trillian, but rather in Skype. So, basically, unlike my MSN, Y!, etc.. contacts that work throuh Trillian, skype is still separate, although both skype and Trillian are online and in T5 I show as being "online" for my skype account.
Thanks for any help with this

Did you approve the request in Skype to allow Trillian to control it?

Yes, I believe so. It starts up when I start up Trillian, just the messages do not go through Trillian and I cannot find my Skype contacts within the Trillian groups. How can I double check that Skype is being controlled by Trillian?

I have the same issue. I did previously add Skype users in to Trillian, but now when I search on those users I get the message "This contact is not associated to any of your current online Skype connections." I can see no way to associate contacts with Skype users.
Similarly, Skype only starts when I launch Trillian and no longer gets messages through Trillian (but only Skype). This used to work when I first installed Astra. I'm running 4.2 Build 22.

It's been a while, but somewhere in the Skype preferences is a setting to allow other programs to control it through the API. I would suggest clearing it if you already did it and redoing it and see if that helps.
Sorry I don't remember the exact steps to get to the setting.

Aha! Got it. In Skype, go to Tools | Options | Advanced | Manage other programs' access to Skype. Once there, select Trillian, hit Change, and select Allow in the radio button. My only guess is that when Trillian updated, Skype turned off its management permissions.

It has to be reapplied if the actual trillian.exe file changes, yes... that is a security provision Skype has.

This post seemed to be answering all my questions..
But it appears i have a small "bug"...
When i do what "diogenes00" saiz and go to "Manage other programs' access to Skype" there are no applications in that list, it's just a blank form ..
Why is trillian not shown in my List? Why can i not grant it acces to Skype??
I'm running a Win7 Ultimate x64 by the way and an Trillian Astra

What version of Trillian and Skype are you using?
The subject title of this discussionis "Trillian 5" but you say above "Trillian Astra" which was/is Trillian 4.
Make sure whatever version of Trillian you are using that you are running the latest version.

T5 is quite buggy with regards to Skype support still, so you might want to wait until it gets out of beta if you need perfect support.

Skype itself is quite buggy when it comes to working along side IM clients, there may never be perfect support no matter where you look.

Indeed, and as u need to run the Skype client regardless, the API is very limited in its use anyway...
