I figured it out!!!1 There's an IM program named Trillion made by a company called CC. That's the only explanation!

I love it!!

If you send the message to the status window, and hide it after the first time, it won't pop up any more. ie. To: irc2.beyondirc.net

Well I couldn't get the previous suggestion to remove the window, but if you send it to a channel you are in then no window appears, eg To: #Trillian

If you use slightly different nicks on different servers (I connect to four regularly), do you have to create separate events?

Medium IRC Related Idea.
By the way, if there were a way to do this without opening a Private Message window with yourself, it may make a good plugin.
Just an idea.

Question Something's wrong...
I'm having a weird problem. I have my nick registered, so my "back" Event changes my nick then calls the "identify" command. Here's what happens:

1. Connect to IRC.
2. Chat, do whatever, then disconnect, but do not remove the connection.
3. Anytime I type a message to someone, (AIM, MSN, Y!, etc), the "back" event fires, and it tries to run my "identify" command.

I don't have Trillian set me as idle, and even if it did, it wouldn't be every second, so what's going on?

Link your away nick to your registered nick. That will keep you from having to identify again.

I've always disliked the whole luserAWAY thing.. does anyone really care if you're away or not? If they do, they can just do a whois on you to see if you're set away or not.

Meanwhile the channel is spamming with people changing their nicks... luseraway, lusertoilet, luserfood, lusersleep... bah.

I don't mind it so much. Of course, there is an extreme. I use two away nicks: dcg-away and dcg-busy. It helps people to know at a glance whether I'm there or not. The latter one I use to let people know that I'm not active, but I'm around if I'm needed.
