Anyone know how to manage offline contacts? I am trying to move contacts to certain groups so I can eliminate empty groups without deleting the contacts.

Yeah, right click in the contact list, go to Contact List Options and uncheck "Hide Offline Contacts" - then you can move them around to your heart's content.
