Connectivity Issues
I have had a recent stretch of connectivity issues with AOL. I have two accounts they frequently disconnect from the AOL Server. It appears to be mainly an issue with AOL. I connect to a number of networks (clients, main office, home office) and the results are rather prominent at all locations. The peculiar thing is that the problems appear to be with one particular system. My spare laptop will not have the same issues. In fact I tend to care my spare mainly to connect to Trillian when my main PC has issues.

I walked through the steps involved to create an AOL account as indicated through all of the FAQ's I looked at. I didnt deviate from these steps, so things shouild be configured correctly as far as I know. I am using Trillian 3.1 Pro build 121. I also have Yahoo, GMAIL using Jabber, and MSN accounts configured.

I guess I was hoping that others could confirm they are having the same issues, or, if someone could guide me to better troubleshooting why I get disconnected so frequently. I have reviewed and watched the status window and the error that occurs is Error Code 0.

Any help is greatly appreciatted.

Michael

I had a similar issue... only it was with Yahoo IM, not AOL or any other. The root cause of my problem was that my office network uses a proxy server. Perhaps your issue is similar. To find if you have a proxy server, go to your internet options and look under the connections tab. Click on "Lan Settings" and you might find something like

http://autoproxy.(your company here).comport number)

To put this in Trillian:

Trillian Preferences -> Advanced Preferences -> Proxy Server

From there you need to select the right format (e.g. HTTP) and then input the information. The Username and password fields will exist whether you need them or not.

As for Yahoo specifically you may need to change the port on that specific IM engine to port 80 (from 5050). I found this solution in some other posts and it worked for me.

Good Luck
