Windows-Integrated or Color-Centric Skin
Alternate thread title: what it would take to make me a paying user.

I really don't like the default Trillian skin, and it is seriously lacking in skins that work for me, because I want it to match whatever Windows theme I'm using at the time.

When I'm using the standard Windows GUI, I use the silver XP one or the WinNT/2k scheme with dark grey and silver. There really aren't a lot of skins to go with that, and fewer still that I'd want to use.

I also often use WindowBlinds with themes like Cyrix, DarkStar and others. Since Trillian doesn't have skins to match these themes, no matter what I pick, I can't get it looking right - it always clashes.

I happen to be a fan of red on black, and minimalist GUIs. There just aren't any.

It simply isn't plausible for someone like me who doesn't have a lot of free time or money to burn to make a skin myself to go with every Windows theme I use, or to hire someone else to do it for me.

All of these things could be addressed with one of two features:

1) The ability to turn off Trillian skinning altogether and use the same skin as Windows, including any changes made by third-party skinning applications such as WindowBlinds

2) A method for altering the color scheme of the currently active skin (or even just the default Trillian skin) The idea being that by adjusting a 'base' color and a 'highlight' color, all of the elements of the Trillian skin would change in hue to go with it. A more rudimentary possibility that may still work would be to just have a master hue slider.

#1 is addressed in the FAQ, there is no way to turn off the Trillian skinning and it is not programmed in a way that will make that possible very easily and (my educated guess) will probably never happen.

There happen to be skins to match ALL the default Windows looks, including ME, XP (all themes) and Vista.

And #2 regarding the theme colors is already implimented (not exactly that way, but close) in Trillian Astra which is in private alpha testing right now, hopefully be available soon.
