Hey all,

I haven't tried to do this in a while but I wanted to set a buddy icon for a co-worker who doesn't set their own.

In previous versions of Trillian you could go to "options">"buddy icon">"set" or "clear".

In Astra however, I only have the option to "clear". I don't have the option to set the buddy icon.

Has this been moved or is it not there yet? I searched the forum and bugzilla but I didn't find anything related to this specifically.

in the Trillian's Preferences, Click My Astra Profiles. You should see My Icon as submenu for My Astra Profiles. Click My Icon.

Thanks for the reply. I actually am not asking about MY icon. I am asking about my contacts icons.

In previous versions of Trillian you were able to set an icon for each of your contacts and metacontacts, and I can't find the ability to do so in Astra.

It used to be in "options">"buddy icon">"set buddy icon" but is no longer there.

I miss the option to save avatars as assets.

I do believe that feature was removed. I also would like it to return. Check bugzilla to see if anyone has made a feature request for it yet or not.

Having the option to save avatars as assets seems like an odd request as it automatically saves them anyways... That is not really the same thing as what the original poster requested.

Yeah, sorry jazde86 but your request is not exactly what I was wondering about.

It is setting custom icons FOR your contact that I was asking for.

In previous versions of Trillian I would always set icons for 'my contacts'.

For instance, I have several business contacts that work for a company.. I would always SET their buddy icon to show their business logo so I knew I was chatting with them. It was a quick visual way to know who you were/are talking to.

This feature seems to either have been removed, or not yet added back in to Astra. I have not seen a bugzilla report on it.

DiamondNRG: I will look again but I did search bugzilla several times and amazingly couldn't find a bug on this. Maybe we are the only people that want it

I know what you're talking about - just curious that this feature was removed. Open a bug and I'll vote for that.

I miss this as well. It *was* in Astra, so I don't know where it went or really when. I just went to do this the other day and realized this was gone... I did vote for it.

4.0 is feature locked CT... not gonna happen (at least until 4.1)

<sigh> we put that request in before the lock... guess it didn't make it to the cutting room floor.

Hmm... could be a way to change it locally in the xml code? But even if that was possible, it would get overwritten, I imagine. And making the containing file read-only would be a recipie for disaster. <sigh>

A friend of mine uses the avatar feature to display x-rated photos of herself. While not a problem when chatting from home, I don't need racy stuff like that popping up on my screen at work.

When I discussed this with her, she didn't seem to care that her salacious avatars could be a problem for some people in certain situations. Since I had no way of overriding or suppressing her avatar, I had no choice but to remove her from my contact list, even though we're still friends.

Having the ability to override offensive or inappropriate icons chosen by others would be a valuable option to have, and I hope Cerulean brings it back in a future release.

Yup, this has been well requested. Hopefully 4.1 does it.

RATS!!!!! I really need this. I an HATING Astra because of it! :-( Those blue, red, etc. blobs just aren't cutting it for me. Sigh...

Please, please, please bring it back...

I have one "buddy" who likes to use...let us say... "crude" avatars. It was good when I could replace it. Indeed, keep voting for this. Please CS, please!

Sounds like you have contacst that have NO avatar ... you could also change iconpacks if you don't like the default icons.
