Introducing: SETi (Search for the Extra Tiny Interface)
SETi is complete! This is the newest Trillian Skin produced by Tometheus, with the help of me, ShujiYomo. It is a port of DavidK's SETi WindowBlinds skin for WindowsXP. There are several new things in this skin, some never seen in Trillian Skinning before!
Previous development thread is located here
From the readme:
================================================== ==================
-------------------
| Getting Started |
-------------------
Install the core SETi skin files.
Check http://tometheus.com/SETi for any additional plugins or schemes you want
to install. To install them, just download the zip file and unzip them to the
skins directory like you did the main file. That's it. Plugins, schemes, and
profiles will automatically show up in the config utility.
Run the SETiConfig.exe file in the SETi directory of your skins folder to set
configuration options in the skin. (Color schemes, enable plugins, modify
profiles, etc) If you're running trillian .7x, now is the time to disable the
'Trillian Pro' plugin.
If you're on win98/ME and trillian 0.7x, choose the SETi (default) profile in
skinchooser, otherwise choose the profile of your choice in the skinchooser
Skin features to check out
--------------------------
roll-up modes - All windows designed to match the WindowBlinds skin's roll-ups
NOTE: This is similar to, but not the same as the trillbar of other skins
Schemes - Choose from different color variations in the skin graphics
Plugins - Choose skin features, etc and allows for future extensibility
Profiles - Store separate configuration options that show up as skins
in the skinchooser for different people / moods / installations
(See the win98/ME note below if you're on trillian .7x)
Config utility - Change the skin settings, add/delete profiles,
choose plugins, text colors, etc.
BTW: if you're not sure what a button does, read the tooltip before pushing it!
A lot of people have pressed the remove connection icon without reading it.
For updates, including plugins, schemes, etc go to http://tometheus.com/SETi
REGIONMAPS ROCK!!!

/me goes to sleep....
Just a couple of notes:
1) READ THE README (At least the getting started section above)
2) Run the CONFIGURATION UTILITY
3) Check http://tometheus.com/SETi for other plugins / schemes
4) The (default) profile comes with no plugins installed as a fallback for people with problems... Run the configuration utility to find more features.

WOOHOO!!
I have been lucky enough to help Tometheus and ShujiYomo test this skin. This is the most amzingly beautiful and complex skin i have seen for trillian yet. It has been my default for a LONG time now and i dont see it leaving any time soon. Kudos men.
P.S. thanks for the blue theme, it r0x0rs my b0x0rs.

I like how this skin takes theme-ing to an even higher point..! (probably because it's a programmer making a skin this time ) it's interesting how a skinner or a user can override some default settings via mods/plugins/profiles.
i'd like to see how we can set a standard in Skin Plugins. It is exciting to see what can be done by making codes modular. I havent set a definite tech specs for it yet. So it's still free for discussion.
P.S. (btw, dont say "Kid's STIXE". It's technically "Cerulean Studios SkinXML/stixe", not mine. )

I agree we do need a standord for plugins. that way i dont have to make recode the emoticon sets(mostly the avator set) that i have for each super config skin that comes out. ok that sounded sefious heheh but seriously there should be a standord
Btw love the skin Yomo and Tom but u knew this

I originally had the idea on May 7 (or at least that's when I posted the original thread and graphics) .... we've been working on it (Tom more than me ) pretty much since then.

Well, for your avatars, it's just a matter of copying your files into the \avatars\ directory... there's no modification of the files done.... Simple as that

Thanks
hehe.. interesting question, that... There is a thread here that will tell you when we started it... but we delayed when the trilly pro beta came out .. then I just kept adding things and went through 3 core skin rewrites... and Shuji's hard drive was reformatted so we lost some graphics... Then with deaths in the family, Shuji getting married, etc, etc... it's taken ....... longer than expected (Of course, I was also kinda hoping that .74b would fix some relative directory referencing problems *cough* )

Congratulations on the release! I helped to test this skin for quite a while, and there was no way I would have imagined it turning out like this in the end! It looks great, and I'll definitely add it to "the rotation "

Outstanding work!!
This skin is really amazing, guys! It was definately worth the wait!
This skin is in very tight competition with Microscopic as my favorite, with this one having a slight lead .
Keep up the good work - I can't wait to see what else you do to it!

OK, domain forwarding for http://tometheus.com is screwing up this evening, so to get plugins, etc, go to my school site directly at http://icarus.uic.edu/~telmer1/SETi
Oh yeah... posting a Halloween mod
[edit]oops... sorry about the link being wrong for the
halloween mod last night[/edit]

Thanks for all the great feedback, everyone!
Tom, the Halloween mod is excellent.
If anyone wants to theme for SETi, please feel free. Theming is very, very simple.
There are two styles of windows in SETi, the "flat" style used in the Default green mod, and the "stylish" one used in Glass, Wine, Aqua, and Halloween. All you have to do to theme is decide which style to use, then use either Green or Glass (we recommend glass because it has the least modified graphics) as a basis, and modify the graphics. There should not be any reason to even edit the code.
Go into the /Trillian/Skins/SETi/Mods and copy the folder corresponding to the mod you want to modify. Call your copy of that folder the name of your theme. Don't forget to modify the Pro plugin (you have to at least have a folder with your theme's name on it in that directory, it's pretty self-explanatory when you look there). Then use the config utility to set your font colors and other options (again no need to edit code ) and you're all done!
All we ask is that you send the theme to us so we can check it for continuity and post it on the main page. That's it!
EDIT - You do need to edit a little bit of code (sorry!). Here's what you do:
Once you have your graphics done, you need to edit the color.dtd file by hand to
set the 'editbox' color and the 'border' color. Also, if you change the basic
button colors, change those in the color.dtd. All the other colors can and
should be set in the configuration utility.
That was straight from the readme. Sorry!

also, what's I'd like to see is a place for people to share their profiles... i.e. if people want to share a color set with dark backgrounds or whatever (like the halloween profile above) they can just zip their SETi_profile_<whatever> directory and share it with others...
Profiles also make it easy to take your settings to other computers... just copy your profie directory and take it with you.. it's only like 80k so you can put it on a floppy
I'll probably be writing a quick little utility for a background image plugin generator. (or I may just put it in the config util) so that people can make their own contact list plugins to share easily.
[edit]Based on some suggestions, I've updated Halloween with a few adjustments to font colors and I've included 9toes's Pumpkin emoticons[/edit]

Yeah.. that's the idea.. This way you can have separate profiles with separate settings (i.e. if two people use the computer, you don't have to have separate skins installed, just one skin with different settings... or if you have different settings for different moods, i.e. halloween, etc.)
Although you could save the settings to the same profile you were using already... your choice.

I hate to be a bother, but there is one thing id like to see done. I like the small stuff and fell in love with this skin set and the micro skin set. I think im going to stick with this seti set, but one thing is bothering me after using the micro set for a couple days.
I think its as simple as using smaller medium icons in this seti set. The ones in it are causing such a larger space between my contacts in the contacts list. Must mention that i did tweak the size of the font for my contact list. Doing so, created the space by the larger sized medium icons. So really, i made the font smaller to crunch each contact closer but the icons wont allow them to get closer. I hope im not confusing anyone.
I looked all thru the files and see no way to get what i want done without learning all the skin stuff, which i have no time for.
So, if the creator of this GREAT (suking up here big time) skin set/mod would either make an option for using smaller medium icons such as those used in the micro skin set, or hint to a dummy how one could posibly do it himself, that would be great!
Thanks

I decided to just go ahead and make the plugin for you (it was a challenge to me to see how well the plugin system works)
anyways, you can get it here
It will work best in a separate profile from the (default) one... unfortunately, the (default) profile has a minor glitch in the version that's currently up n the website. (well, not a glitch per-se, but something was fixed in trillian .74 so I can do it the right way now) Anyways, just enable the cubbie microscopic plugin in a non-(default) profile and you should be good. (of course, after tomorrow, it should work in (default) too after I re-upload the entire skin as part of my final tweaks before submitting to CS)
BTW: .7x users could use the microscopic plugin if they wanted... it'd just show up as pink backgrounds for them. I am planning on making a microscopic plugin for .7x users... but that'll be in a couple weeks probably
